Description
The evolution towards 6G communications introduces significant security and privacy challenges, such as protecting sensitive data, securing ultra-low latency communications, countering emerging cyber threats, and ensuring network integrity. MARE addresses these challenges by developing a reliable platform for 6G service provisioning, featuring a novel security plane integrated into the 6G architecture.
This security plane is built on open and programmable security functions, enabling multi-domain and multi-stakeholder transparency in addressing attacks and threats. MARE’s core innovations include:
A set of advanced security functions, called DOTs, which combine basic primitives into programmable services to maximize security guarantees.
A smart pre-assessment environment that leverages simulation, emulation (including NDT), and real infrastructure to analyze and optimize security functions.
MARE will also implement an Attacks Modeling Reference Framework to systematically identify and categorize threats in the evolving 6G ecosystem, enhancing the scope and coverage of its security enablers.
The project’s solutions will be validated in 11 proof-of-concept setups, addressing various 6G security challenges. Fully aligned with the architectural concepts of European and international initiatives like Hexa-X I/II, MARE aims to set new benchmarks in 6G security and privacy provisioning.
