UNified archITecture for Open RAN-enabled Distributed, Scalable and SustainabilitY-enhanced 6G Networks

 

Description

UNITY-6G aims to develop a sustainable, scalable, and AI-native architecture to meet the diverse demands of next-generation networks. By leveraging technologies such as distributed ledger technology, semantic communications, and digital network twinning, the project enhances performance, cost-efficiency, and trustworthiness in 6G services and applications.


The focus is on integrating Non-Terrestrial and Terrestrial Networks, xHaul, Open RAN, Non-Public Networks, Edge, Core, and Cloud into a cohesive and sustainable framework. UNITY-6G also advances real-time, state-aware Open RAN architectures with distributed applications (dApps) that complement existing xApps and rApps, enabling precise data-driven management for time-sensitive use cases.


To ensure seamless communication across diverse domains, the project will define common interfaces and protocols while leveraging service-based architecture principles and digital twins for network evaluation. Key use cases include disaster-resilient networks, immersive XR and holographic communications, digital twin-based network evaluation, and Multi-RAT O-RAN-enabled Non-Public Networks for Industry 4.0.



UNITY-6G is shaping the future of intelligent, integrated networks with a focus on scalability and sustainability.
